Pancake Day is one of the best days of the year… fact. Whilst we can’t wait to eat tasty pancakes, did you know why we eat Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday?
Pancake Day is where Easter begins. It’s a day that funnily enough, always happens 47 days before Easter. The day after is Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent. If you’re like Chief Charlie and give up chocolate every year, you’ll know the struggle of those 40 days!
Why not join us for a fantastic pancake day this Tuesday? We'll be serving delicious pancakes from our award-winning Watering Hole cafe, so come in a take a bite! We only have a limited number of pancakes on offer, so come in early to get yours. Choose from Lemon & Sugar, Maple Syrup & Blueberries, Chocolate Spread & Banana.
Between Pancake Day and Easter, Christians often choose to fast or give up foods. The 40 days are symbolic of the time Jesus spent in the desert, where he needed to fast in order to resist temptations from Satan.
So, why pancakes?
Christian families used to prepare for their fasting period by using up a lot of the ingredients in their kitchen. This would include eggs, flour and milk – which is a coincidence as this is everything needed to make a fantastic pancake!
We're also giving you the chance to pick our fourth and final pancake topping! Comment one of these two options below and be in with a chance to #WIN family entry (for two adults and two children!) with complimentary pancakes on Tuesday 5th March!
